Does Superstition play a BIG role in the non-development of Haiti and the Haitian mindset?

99.9 percent of the Haitians are superstitious. I was surprised to be listening to a famous journalist in Haiti yesterday who thinks it is normal for people to die during the carnival season because, superstitiously speaking, it has to happen. SAY WHAT???

Other countries talk about public safety all the time. Whenever there is a large crowd gathered for some kind of event, public safety, making SURE everyone is safe, is the number one priority for the authorities in other countries except Haiti.

AND if something bad happens in other parts or the world except Haiti, it is NOT the devil's fault or some unexplainable force at work.

It is so easy to blame the boogieman (djab la) for every incident that happens in Haiti that no one needs to take responsibility for anything that happens.

The saddest part of the story is the same people whose responsibility it is to educate and enlighten the people of Haiti are the ones broadcasting it into the ears of the uneducated masses.

And you think Haiti will change?

How?

Did you know? One of the 30 major causes of failure according to Napoleon Hill's famous book Think And Grow Rich is SUPERSTITION AND PREJUDICE. Superstition is a form of fear. It is also a sign of ignorance.

When will all Haitians stop blaming the white man (blan) and mistik (the unknown) for every darn thing that goes on in this country and take responsibility for their actions or inaction for that matter?

Superstition is in Haitians' fabric.

It is not something that you can snap them out of. Almost every Haitian I know, educated or not, believe in superstition.
