TIPS for buying land in Haiti - Tè Tit Vs. Tè Leta

When buying land in Haiti, Make sure you are buying private land (tè tit) and not State owned land (tè leta) AND... even when it is private land, make sure you are buying land from the rightful owner.

Land For Sale in Haiti

Land ownership in Haiti is a topic fill an encyclopedia...

Nobody knows who really owns a piece of land in Haiti until you whip out your hard earned money to buy it only to find out later that the land you just purchased is owned by somebody other then the seller you just bought it from.

Sometimes the seller sells land that is not his, sometimes it is land that he AND other "eritye" owns (it's family land with more than one owner) OR worse... The land you just bought is owned by the state (tè leta)

So... When buying land in Haiti. Be very careful who you buy it from.

QUESTION: Have you or someone you know purchased any land in Haiti only to find out later that you just got screwed?

Be 100% certain of your legal status in Haiti.

Do you have your residency?

I wouldn't have any problems with the government to give up my land if they want to build a high way do something in the area, but not for free. They would have to give me something in return.

if they government wants to develop an area folks should not oppose or object a plan that the government would like to implement to build the country.

Haitians must always see things that would work for them morally and ethically
