The U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti has officially ended today, October 15, 2017. A new mission has started, It's civilian mission called MINUJUSTH, The United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti.
MINUJUSTH will have up to 1,275 police officers as well as correction officers and international civilians, but no military personnel.
So, Are Haitians free at last?
I don't know because, you see, Haitian politicians have a strange habit of screwing up the country so that other nations can come to our rescue. Not necessarily the Haitians in power, for those who want power by any means necessary i Haiti, it's the law of the jungle.
So let's wait and see what happens.

I am not at all overjoyed at the departure of the minujusth; knowing the political concept of my fellow Haitians, I am almost sure that we are now threading on a very thin line of stability, We all know that those in power do not want to give it up; and those out of power want to get in by all means necessary - illegal or otherwise, Let us not rejoice as yet; let wait and see whether Haitians have any useful lessons in
