Haiti to open new office to get Humanitarian Aid cleared out of Customs Faster
Haiti Customs - AGD - Administration General Des Douanes
Over the years, I have heard lots of complaints about how terrible it is for non-profit organizations to get their shipments of goods, materials and humanitarian aid cleared out of Haiti Customs. Prime Minister Lamothe says all that is about to change...
(Mwen ta renmen yo fè yon ti pase men nan lot ti bagay you tou wi La Douane men sa se yon lot dosye :)
Here is what Lamothe said, according to HCNN:
"We are aware of the difficulties and we know we have to do more to help philanthropic organizations to better help us...
We will open a customer type of service for many of the NGO and philanthropic organizations so that they may have faster access to customs services and to get their items out of customs quicker...
We are working on a systemic approach to solve the issue by giving a temporary fast-track access to reputable NGOs that are constantly shipping things to the country, to help them get their stuff out of customs and improve their efficiency of their work in Haiti..."
