January 12, 2010 is a date which the Haitian people will never be able to forget.

It will always remind us of this day full of a terrible pain for our nation; nevertheless, it will have to also be considered as the first day of the Haitian Renaissance.

Haiti will come back from the rubble created by this most deadly seism in its history.

Indeed, in just 36 seconds, this powerful earthquake, which shook the country, has caused the death of approximately 250,000 people, has resulted in the injury of some 500,000 and has created approximately 1.5 million homeless people, in a country where 72% of the population was already living in a cruel misery.
