True or False: Couples are better at saving money, buying healthier foods, and exercising regularly

I just read this on Forbes Magazine and found it very interesting for my Haitian-Americans readers... Read this... Researchers from Boston College and the University of Pittsburgh wanted to know whether it's true that couples are better at saving money, buying healthier foods, and exercising regularly... What they discovered will amaze you...

READY?

Here are the results:

If both members of the couple possess high levels of self-control, they are golden. These folks will succeed at joint tasks more often than not.

If both members of the couple possess low self-control, they are--as you'd expect--in trouble. Each person's individual lack of self-control has a compounding effect in the relationship and failure is almost assuredly guaranteed.

No surprises with either of those findings, but here's the kicker:

If one person has high self-control and the other has low self-control, the couple is more likely to fail than succeed in all of the tasks, from budgeting to eating to exercising.

Couples who fall in that category--called "couples of mixed self-control" in the study--jointly tend toward the lower end of the self-control spectrum, not the higher.

One interesting argument in the study regarding a person with high self-control being in a relationship with a person with low self-control that I found very interesting is the following:

high self-control partners in relationships tend to want to please low self-control partners. The desire to indulge their partner's wants and desires diminishes any benefits the high self-control partner might otherwise contribute.

WOW... If I told you I've been there, doe that, I'd have a lot of explaining to do so I'll just keep my mouth shut... LOL...
