The cemetery stand became a big deal following the Haiti Kanaval incident Tuesday, 17 Feb, 2015, where singer Fantom was burned from an electric shock that left many dead and many more injured... Many people, especially the opposition, started to spread rumors that the incident was supernatural and they pointed to that stand as a reason why it happened...
The unfortunate accident happened right near where the cemetery stand was erected... In a country where most believe in superstition and the supernatural, it is no wonder that the stand marked "Cimetiere de Port-au-Prince" became the talk of the town.

Cemetary director Mareige Laguerre says he used the stand as symbol to remind the population of this Heritage site (Patrimoine in French) constructed around 1800 before Haiti's Independence and that it is falling apart...
As far at the words "Frap La" and "Nap Manyen Yo" written on the stand, Laguere said Frap la is a Haitian Rap Kreyol Goup that they support, and "Nap Manyen yo" is the title of the 2015 Carnaval Jingle.
