Back to School: Haiti Government grant over 2.3 million textbooks to students

The Haitian government has made available more than 2.3 million school books are part of a book grants program to assist parents and students for the 2018-2019 school year.

The State (l'Etat Haitien) will pay more than 70% of the price of more than 500,000 school textbooks, president Jovenel Moise said in his national address.

If a school textbook cost 100 Haitian Gourde (HTG) regular price, parents will only have to pay 30 Haitian gourdes for that textbook, the president said.

The Haitian government will give out more than 1.8 million textbooks to students this year. President Jovenel made it clear, Haitian parents won't have to pay a dime for these 1.8 million textbooks; however, The president is asking all students who received his textbooks, they are not freebies that you get to keep at the end of the school year, instead he asked Haitian students to protect this textbooks so that they can be passed on to other students next year.
