In response to Question: What causes the Haitian currency to depreciate so much in value, I am not sure if that can help at all, but perhaps adopting the U.S. currency might help. After all, we spend in $US dollars to buy most of our goods.

Get rid of the gourde, or at least keep it in the background for minimal things, use the $US to combat the depreciation.

Cuba uses that system and it works perfectly well for them and that, despite the US. embargo.
