There is a big difference between a Jack of all trades and a
specialist.

A Jack of all trades knows as much as possible about many
topics while a specialist is an expert in one task.

Can you guess which one will be more successful?

One day, my dentist referred me to a specialist.

When I reached the office of the specialist the doctor came
to see me and he started talking about my wisdom teeth and
why I had to extract them.

"But Doctor," I said, "tell me about the tooth that hurts"

"You are here to see two specialists", the doctor replied,
"I only specialize in extractions. For the tooth that hurts
you have to see the root canal specialist."

Then the little Haitian inside me says… "Why does a person
have to see 3 dentists in order to get something done? In
my country, you only have to see one!"

When I spoke to the root canal specialist he referred me to
a third one, a periodontist, a dentist who specializes in
gums.

The moral of this story is... you gotta have insurance:

Almost everyone I know is a Jack of all trades and a master
of
none.

Napoleon hill, a famous American author once said "The
jack-of-all-trades seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of
your efforts on one definite chief aim."

I must admit, I suffer from this disease, this
'Jack-of-all-trade' disease.

A Jack of all trades may not be what you think it is.

A Jack of all trades is not necessarily someone who is a
doctor, a plumber, and a teacher.

Acording to an article on sugarmama.org, a jack of all
trades
can be a lawyer who has skills in litigation, tax law,
management, business, and criminal law, but is an expert in
none.

Or a software developer who can write some Java, C#, C++,
and Smalltalk, and can also perform a little hardware work
and load an operating system, but does not have the full
range of knowledge to be considered an expert in any one
programming language.

Are you a jack of all trade?

Perhaps you should consider specializing in one thing.

When I first quit my job back in October I quickly went to a
real estate school to learn how to become a real estate
agent.

I passed the school test but I never took the state exam.

I knew that if I passed the state exam, I would end up being
a real estate agent instead of doing what I do online.

It's not always a good idea to have a plan B. Sometimes,
having a Plan B is the reason Plan A Fails.

If you do not have a plan B then failure is not an option.

At first I thought it was a good idea to have the real
estate license under my belt just in case I failed to make
money online.

Then I thought… if I quit my job to concentrate on my
Internet marketing ventures then I should give it my best
shot.

Some of us make the mistake of doing to many things at once
and we spend all our lives barely surviving and never
achieve total success.

Perhaps you should focus on one thing.

If you are in an industry that is very broad then perhaps
you should focus on specializing in one area.

this is how you become known as a "Specialist".

This time, I am taking my own advice!
