A motorcycle taxi driver says "when the 100 gourdes in your pocket is finished, you have no choice but to hit the streets. We live day by day, we earn our daily living in the streets."

I many major cities in Haiti "ti machanns" who make a living in the streets are afraid to come out. Some complain there is no money in staying at home and they the money they borrow to buy the merchandise is accumulating interest.
