The Hispaniolan Solenodon, Called Nen Long in Haitian Creole

The Hispaniolan Solenodon (Solenodon paradoxus), called Nen Long in Haitian Creole is one of only two terrestrial mammals endemic to Hispaniola that are still found in Haiti.

Pic Macaya National Park in southern Haiti is home to these two endemic terrestrial mammals: The Zagouti (Plagiodontia eadium) and the Hispaniolan Solenodon, a nocturnal insectivore called the Nez Long in French or Nen Long in Haitian Creole (Solenodon paradox).
