June 2019, The Haitian currency is approaching 100 gourdes for one US dollar. All of this Haitian money you see here, it's only worth about 50 dollars US.

If you count it, there is 5,000 gourdes here, once upon a time it was worth about 1,000 dollars US, nowadays it's only worth a measly 50 bucks!

When I was growing up in Haiti, a U.S. quarter was 'Goud e ka' (1.25 Gourdes) and 5 gourdes was equivalent to ONE U.S. Dollar. it was written right on the currency. Read more Haitian Money - Why has the Haitian currency depreciated so much in value?

There is no other way to put it... With over 90 Haitian gourdes for one U.S. dollar, this is abuse. But whose fault it is?

right before the fall of the Duvallier Regime in Haiti, the Haitian currency was 5 gourdes for one US dollar. 30+ years later, the US currency is almost twenty times more.

Sadly, Haitian authorities have nothing to say about this!

Once upon a time, FIVE Haitian gourdes was equivalent to ONE U.S. Dollar. it was written directly on the Haitian currency. Nowadays you need lots of Haitian gourdes, more than 70 gourdes for one US dollar.
