What is really the difference between sleeping under the bridge

In reference to Would You Live In An Old Wooden House In Haiti, What is really the difference between sleeping under the bridge in the United State or having a roof over your head in a little wooden house in your own country.
If that's all you can afford for now, thank God for it 'till later.
Although it is still better than under the bridge.
