While my heart goes out to the victims of the flood that has ravaged the North and other parts of Haiti, and my most sincere sympathy with each and every individual for their losses as well in these times beyond words of qualification, the awareness that this is deja vu all over again cannot be escaped.

The abandonment of a people with only a prayer to hold onto by the authorities who seem to have no forsight to lead produces these forseable results, indeed an assassination of civilization.
