Meet Bos Dieusel, The Builder of the New Town of Canaan Haiti

QUESTION - What does it take to build a new town in Haiti? Well apparently it does NOT require any government decision, no permits, no zoning laws, nothing... All that is required is the DECISION to build it!

There is a new town being built in Haiti...
BY THE PEOPLE...

The town of Canaan...
10,000 families and a few latrines!

Naje Pou Soti!

I saw this photo in the Miami Herald but it's really the caption that caught my attention... It reads:

Carpenter, Dieusel Pierre, 53, works on the assembly of a neighbor's home inside the makeshift settlement of Canaan where many are not waiting for international aid - they are clearing trees, building roads and erecting homes themselves. Pierre stands outside his own home which is still under construction.

WOW!

This is what happens when people are left to fend for themselves... This has always been the case for my people.

Let me ask you a question:

Really... When God forbid... another disaster strikes and thousands of people die because of poor construction...

Eske se fot Bos Dieusel?

I hope one day you will be able to visit Haiti, a very beautiful country, and go to La Vallee Jacmel, ask to visit the Lycee Philippe Jules, ask for the Ferol Bourguignon foundation...

I meant to say, yes, I agree, he needs education.

Is there a school where he is?

Maybe you or one of your compadres could go there and begin something like that....They need the tools of education, just like they need the tools to build proper homes.

Beginning - one step

Dear one. I want you to understand something, not to be misleading.

I am an older woman, and I have some physical issues.

I have never been to your country, though someday who knows?

I just reread this, and someone who has not been with us the past couple of days must be thinkng, Yeah, Lady, duh! Stating the obvious, I know. But you and I are just talking...sort of thinking things through.

We are actually talking about to bless or not to bless, not just about Haiti.

Please take my words in the earnestness with which they are intended.

For the record, I do support Haiti...I give, more than words.

I am not rich or even well off. What I am is b-l-e-s-s-e-d, by God to make a little go a wys further.

I spent alot of time online looking for emergency housing, next phase building, domes, homes made of tires and plastered over, shipping container houses, and many more which would be much more likely to stand up to hurricane winds, and not be so heavy, like cememt in case of earthquake.

You are right.

This is what the gentleman is doing in building these houses.

The point is, he is doing something, is it not?

The best he can do under the circumstances.

Of course those who are educated should be blueprinting a decent, caring, upward-directed society.

In the meantime, grab a hammer brother...Blessings to
