Haiti - Yon gode pitimi koute 60 gourdes! (the price of millet is sky high)
Have you heard? Millet or pitimi in Haiti, the stuff you used to hate to eating as a child in Haiti, now costs more than twice the price of rice!
Haiti Cuisine: Millet, Spinach, almonds and Cod Fish, Bon Manje Creole
Pitimi now costs 60 gourdes per gode (1 measuring cup) in the local marketplace. Compare to 25 gourdes for a cup of government rice (diri solidarite), 35 gourdes for the popular rice brands (Tchako, mega, etc...)
Once considered a type of food for the poor, millet or pitimi is not a delicacy in Haiti. Poor people can no longer afford it.

There must be some reasons why millet's price has rocketed on the market.
I do not believe that those poor merchants will willy billy raise the price of a commodity that is not wanted.
