Haiti - Second day of Gasoline Protest cancelled

A two-day gasoline strike scheduled for Monday and Tuesday 09-10 Mar 2015 did not go very well on the first day... Contrary to the anticipated paralysis of transportation in the country many people went about their business as usual... Day two has been cancelled...

Many drivers spoke to the Haitian media to complain about this gasoline strike that is literally taking money out their pockets... "We have children to feed, we have to go out in the streets," one driver told a Haiti Press Network reporter.

Another driver complained there is politics involved in the gasoline strike and he understand that it is not possible for the Haitian government to lower gasoline prices down to 100 gourdes.

Plateforme Nationale des Syndicats de Transports Fidèles (PNSTF) decided to cancel the second day of the strike.
