Haiti Medical Alert

So far, most of the cases are reported in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince.

Chikungunya is a virus that is transmitted to humans by virus-carrying mosquitoes. When you are infected, you will have a bad fever and terrible joint pains for about a week.

There is no cure for Chikungunya, and the only way to prevent being infected is to avoid getting bitten by the virus carrying mosquitoes.

You know this thing called a "Moustikè?" If you are in Haiti right now, I strongly suggest you get used to sleeping under it. Also, wear long sleeve pants, get rid of any old pans and tires near your house that can hold water and allow mosquitoes to grow. Above all, try your best to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes.
