Flying to Haiti? American Airlines now charges for all checked bags

For all Haitian airline passengers who used to enjoy traveling with 2 big suitcases filled with goodies free of charge when flying American Airlines, things have changed... American Airlines now charges for all checked bags...

KREYOL: Pasaje Haitien ki te konn vwayaje nan American Airlines ak 2 gwo valiz yo, Valiz pa gratis ankò... American menm jan ak Spirit konyea, W ap tcheke valiz ou? PEYE $$$... Kisa ou panse de sa???

We don't know exactly when these changes took effect but If you are flying to and from Haiti expect to pay the following prices for your luggage.

1st checked bag$25
2nd checked bag$55
3rd checked bag$150
All additional bags$200

Wait... Don't start filling up these bags thinking since you're gonna pay for it why not... If your bag is more than 50 lbs, the price jumps to $100; if it is more than 70 lbs, the price jumps to $200.

As posted on Americain Airlines Checked baggage policy page, All baggage fees are non-refundable and apply per person, each way.

So I guess, as far as checking bags are concerned, flying American Airlines is no different than flying Spirit Airlines... LOL...

What do you think about that?

Last month I flew to Panama on Spirit.

We paid for baggage but still saved around $600/ticket over Delta and American.

I do mission work in Haiti.

The reason I flew American is the baggage, but now I am paying for that.

That's a dam shame shame on you American Airlines Haiti is going through difficult times for Gods sake be a humanitarian.

Some people take things to Haiti to sell but there are others that take their friends and family things to survive.

Big deal if American Airlines loses money with Haiti, they make it back with everybody else.

The airline is charging extra to the Haitian customers, because we have been given the aa too many businesses and the good thing is there are competitors that are given far more and services to our Haitian community.

I am glad that there are many other options in the market.

They are just abusing their clients.

We can just choose other airlines who give better deal. Travelling these days gets so frustratings and burdensome.

You don't enjoy your flights anymore with so many complications.

I am getting fed up with them. God help
