Dany Laferrière was born Windsor Kléber Laferrière.
He was born in Port-au-Prince, Haïti, and raised in Petit Goâve, Laferrière worked as a journalist in Haïti before moving to Canada in 1976.
Danny's first novel it titled: Comment faire l'amour avec un nègre sans se fatiguer (How To Make Love To A Negro Without Getting Tired.) it was published in 1985.
The Academy was established in 1635 by Cardinal Richelieu and tasked with maintaining the purity of the French language.
This is truly an honor for Haiti... Don't you think So?

LaFerriere's accomplishment has again put Haiti on the platform of 'high society of academics.' More importantly, his literary achievements are a testimony of how far Haitians as a people can travel if the slightest opportunities were within our grasp.
