Haiti Hurricane Season - Message from Protection Civile

Sitting next to her is another peyizan selling 'zoranj su' (bitter orange) telling her what she heard on the radio. "It's going to be a really bad hurricane," she said to the old lady so surprised to hear the news.

The Haitian government is doing its best to get the message out there but you can't help thinking: Are the most vulnerable people getting the message?

As of the writing of this article, there are people in Cap Haitien complaining they got the message about the hurricane by sheer accident.

"It is through word-of-mouth that we always learn things," one man said, according to a Le Nouvelliste report. "We are on the seaside but no authority came to tell us anything."

There's not much time left. Yonn di lot... IRMA is coming... Brace yourself.
