Two days after an earthquake hits southern Haiti, tropical storm Grace soaks the region with rain water. Videos of a flooded Jacmel was circulating on social media.

With people still stuck under the rubble in cities like Jeremie, Les Cayes and Camp Perrin, tropical storm Grace is not being graceful.

More than 700 people have died from the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Haiti on Saturday August 14th 2021. Now a tropical storm Grace comes knocking as victims are reported stuck under the rubble.

Grace? Can they pick up better name for this darn tropical storm?

Death tolls are reported expected to rise. Rescue and Recovery efforts are being made to try and save as many as they can.

The storm is coming and people are afraid of aftershocks. They're all sleeping outside of their homes because any sudden aftershock could eventually collapse homes and structure that already damaged by the 7.2 earthquake.

As hurricane Beryl, now weakened into a tropical storm, approaches Haiti after soaking the Dominican Republic with gusty downpours, Haitians are still worried because, in Haiti, it is often the rainfall that causes major damage after a hurricane or tropical storm.

Weather service in Haiti announced there will be sporadic rainfalls and gusty winds throughout the day in parts of the country.

Haiti's government wants ZERO dead during Hurricane Season 2018

Haitian prime minister Jack Guy Lafontant his his government discusses all the options at a recent council of minister (Conseil des Minister). The objective is ZERO dead during the 2018 hurricane season.

The hurricane season in Haiti begins in June and lasts until the end of November. During that time, there are often reports of deaths and property damage, especially on the countryside where people attempt to cross flooded rivers.

The Haitian government is mobilizing the population to help and encourage eatchother to say safe and from harms way this hurricane season.

Haiti after Hurricane IRMA: No Deaths reported so far

As of Friday morning after Hurricane Irma, no deaths have been reported in Haiti by Protection Civile, the government's emergency preparedness agency.

Looking at the sheer size of Hurricane Irma and the damages it caused in the lesser Antilles. it's really a miracle that Haiti was spared.

So far, one person is reported missing, many rivers are flooded, some houses are damaged and some crop fields are destroyed.

Haiti IRMA: Old Bridge Connecting Ouanaminthe to the Dominican Republic Collapses

Hurricane IRMA went through Ouanaminthe Haiti and took with it an old out of commission bridge that used to connect Ouanaminthe (Haiti) with Dajabon (Dominican Republic).

Note that it is not the official border-crossing bridge between Ouanaminthe and Dajabon that was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. There is a newer bridge that connects the two countries over the Massacre river in Ouanaminthe and that bridge is intact.

Maismy-Mary Fleurant‏ tweets: "It is the old historical bridge between Ouanaminthe and Dajabon that collapsed. It remained an informal crossing point for pedestrians."
