Charcoal as Cooking fuel:

Wikipedia says "Prior to the industrial revolution charcoal was occasionally used as a cooking fuel." I guess the industrial revolution has not yet arrived in Haiti because charcoal is still the main cooking fuel in the country.

They are many Haitians in Haiti who buy a gas oven to cook with propane gas and yet they still use charcoal in the back yard kitchen to cook pretty much everything. What is up with that?
