Well, I tried not to lie the best I can, even as a child.
My father often said to me that It takes a lifetime to build trust and it takes a second to destroy it. I always kept that in mind.
When I was a teenager, my parents often ask me where I was going, my answer invariably was: outside.
Outside?
where?
they would reply.
My answer was: here, and there.
What time are you coming back?
they would ask anxiously, my answer was a little after dark.
My first boyfriend asked me to marry him, I had to press my big toe down to keep me from laughing, than I told him yes I would marry him but not then and not anytime soon. He took a step back and said some day you will make a great diplomat.
The point was I hated to lie and vagueness became my defense mechanism.
