You brought both laughter and tears to my eyes in reading this thread.

Thank you though, I can relate to each and everything that you said here. Memories rushed back...I also remember waking-up early morning (douvan jou) with tati Vierge twice a week to go nan mache.

She would place me up on one of the sak-paille on top of the ti-bourik en route for ti-mache.

We would come back with lots of grocery produce and fresh fruits.

I loved maren Virgina's mayimoulen ak pra ak beregen ak cirik, hmmm, koupe dret. Will never forget the gathering around the fire after dinner deye lakou piti kou gran pou nou tire kont. Crik, crak, ti piti fe loneur presiden: Can you guess it?

aiguille ak fil. Those were gran vakans souvenirs.

Growing up, I could not wait for summer vacation each year, that is my best childhood souvenirs from Gressier, Leogane and Jacmel.

Thanks, woodring for bringing that back. Gosh, I love my Country!
