The fact you need to ask speaks volumes.

Haiti has not had great leaders politically or in-the-spotlight since the revolution.

However, there are literally millions of Haitian leaders who can be credited with the survival of this nation ...

I'll name one: Nelly.

She is a wife, a mother, a merchant, a faithful church attender, a community builder.

She and her husband have two children of their own and have raised another, plus just taking on a fourth.

These last two are not restaveks, but rather adopted members of the family with same privileges and responsibilities as their first born two.
Haiti is alive today because of the courage and stamina and perseverance of the many women symbolized by Nelly.

I put her name as nominee for Great Leader.

She is a real woman in a real life situation in the real Haiti.

A second nomination I would make is Michel Martelly.

His accomplishments are beyond miraculous ...

he has not yet stood the test of time, but he has at least gotten Haiti into real time with the rest of the world.
