The NGO Class - A new Social Class has emerged in Haiti, Read all about it

Have you heard? Haiti has a new Social Class called the "NGO Class". It is group of expatriates comfortably living in Haiti making big money, big aid money, working for the more than 10,000 non-governmental organizations who are operating in the country.

Haiti's NGO Class - Expatriates living like kings in Haiti on aid money

A single staff member at an organization in Haiti can earn $200,000 each year in salary.

With an estimated 10,000 non-governmental organizations operating in the country, it's no surprise that Haiti is often referred to as the republic of NGOs.

Among Haitians, expatriates who work for these organizations have become known as the "NGO class."

They live comfortably in the well-to-do suburb of Petionville in the hills above Port-au-Prince. Expensive grocery stores and restaurants cater to their tastes.

Down below, many Haitians struggle to survive.

Are Foreign NGOs Rebuilding Haiti Or Just Cashing In?

I became aware of this new group of Foreign workers who make up an affluent class of their own in Haiti after I read this article by Nathalie Baptiste.

It is no wonder that Haiti will never change for the better. It has to remain in this condition for a few people to get rich begging on behalf of the poor Haitian people.
