TPS for Haitians - Haiti government writes to Trump Administration asking for 18-month Extension
TPS For Haitians
This letter came from Haitian ambassador Paul Altidor on behalf of President Jovenel Moise.
In the letter, the Ambassador asks acting DHS secretary Elaine Duke to take a moment and visit Haiti before making a decision on whether or not to extend TPS for Haitians next month, in November. This visit, one hope, will convince the Trump government that Haiti has not fully recovered and needs a little more time before it can receive tens of thousand of Haitians living in the US without a green card.
They are about 60,000 Haitians living in the United States with TPS, they need this extension to continue living in the states legally, to continue helping their families back home.
TPS for Haitians will expire on January 22nd. The decision to extend it is supposed to happen in November. Let us hope the US government makes a good decision on behalf of the Haitian people.
