France's Debt to Haiti resurfaces after the Notre Dame Cathedral Paris Fire

A strange phenomenon happened after the Notre Dame

Haiti is still suffering, not just from being an old colony used and abused by France but, did you know? Haiti had to pay back 150 million gold francs as reparations to the former slave owners.

This debt repayment kept Haiti unable to take care of itself until 1945. In today's money, this debt repayment is worth about $21 billion.
