Fiber Optics, Haiti is moving to the new age of communication

Fiber Optics In Haiti... Alleluia!

Haiti Fiber Optic

Change is coming to Haiti

A new undersea fiber optic cable is in construction to connect Haiti digitally to the civilized world via the Bahamas.

What does a fiber optic undersea link to Haiti mean for you the Haitian consumer?

Let me share with you the benefits without sounding too technical:

  • Fiber optics means NO MORE ECHOES - How many times do you call Haiti and keep shouting... "ALO... ALO... ALO... OU PA TANDE-M?... O.. O.. APA KAT LA FINI!"
  • Well that's probably because your call bouncing off a communications satellite, and god only knows what else, before it arrives in the ear of the person in Haiti you are trying to talk to..
  • NO MORE... With fiber optics, you will have a direct connection to Haiti with no more "ALO... ALO... TONERRRRR..."
  • Fiber Optics are less expensive - That means cable, phone, and Internet service will be much cheaper in Haiti
  • Fiber optics are thinner and can carry more information than a copper wire - Have you ever tried to call Haiti and "All circuits are busy now... Please try your call again later?" With a fiber optic line going straight to Haiti that will mean...

More phone lines,
More phone conversations, and much cheaper!
High speed internet access (OH... Boy!... Do I need that one!)
More cable channels

Fiber optics require less energy to operate - That again will save you money because your service provider will be saving money. Hopefully they will pass it on to us.

These are just some of the benefits.

This will be a joint venture between TELECO has been has been working with BTC (Bahamas Telecommunications Company) and it is GREAT NEWS for anyone who has ever tried to access the Internet in Haiti and for you too if you've ever used a calling cards to call Haiti. You are about to save a ton of money.

Haiti has such a large Diaspora who is in constant contact with "LAKAY" I can on think of how beneficial this new fiber optic cable will be for Haiti.

Since 2005 there TELECO has been has been working with BTC (Bahamas Telecomunications Company) towards the construction of this news submarine fiber optic cable to Haiti. Michel Presume, the CEO (Directeur General) of TELECO announced in press conference in Haiti that construction of this new fiber optic line to Haiti has finally arrived at its production phase.

I can't wait!

(Thanks Ti Georges for the info)

So the current cell phone companies in Haiti don't use the existing TELCO as their switching HUB to the rest of the world?

If that is the case, our country is really in bad shape.

The goverment is really concerning about their pocket not the people.

Part of their contract with those companies should tie in an upgrade for
