Part of Dominican Republic Visa Cost to Haitians is for Insurance, Consulate said

Here is what we found out about why the price of a Dominican Republic visa in Haiti went up so much recently. Read this if you are looking for a Dominican Republic tourist visa to travel there.

Part of the price to obtain a Dominican visa went to $350 US because of the addition of compulsory insurance, a $150 US price tag added to the cost of all types of visas, whether it is a Domincan tourist visa, resident visa or student visa.

This does not only apply to Haitians. It doesn't matter nationality of the applicant, said César Antonio Cuevas Pérez, Minister Counselor at the Dominican Consulate.

Well this is bull if you ask me :)

Who needs a visa to travel to the Dominican Republic?

There is along list of countries whose citizens are do not need a visa to travel to the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, Haiti is not in that list and Haitians are the ones who really buy Dominican Visas to travel over there.
