Vetiver grass is critical for erosion control in the countryside.
Years ago I could buy a truckload of vetiver to plant along the road to protect it from erosion.
Vetiver roots form a basket underneath the soil and holds it together.
Same with the neem tree which has both food and medicinal purposes.
The average Haitian living in the country has no clue that these things can be profitable.
These are two resources that Haiti needs for itself to control erosion.
1% of their topsoil washes down the mountains annually.
This is precious soil for farming.
Who needs another soap or perfume.
Food insecurity in Haiti is rampant.
They can't grown enough food to feed their population so children are surviving on junk food because its cheap.
