Mr. St. Preux,
Would you please e-mail or fax this article directly to the new general director of TELECO.
Hopefully, this technocrat will take notice.
Their real problem down there is the fact that TELECO is profitable to them.
In their little administrative mind they think they are making a lot of money .Why?
Simple, they invest $1 million, at the end of their fiscal year, their profit comes up to...say $4 million.
That is it, they make a profit.
See, what they do not realize is TELECO can be 50 or 100 times more profitable than that.
Solution: Privatize the company so that it can benefit the whole city.
The private owner or owners will make sure that they get as many consumers as they can so that they can make as much money as possible.
Here is what these folks down there do not get yet: ONE IS IN BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY as much of it as possible.
But guess what, whatever little amount that TELECO is rendering they are satisfied with it.
Sad.
They have no notion of business management.
Hopefully, things will change.
By the way, do you know it has been two weeks going on three since a radio station in Haiti is functioning without a phone, now think about the private houses.
It's really sad.
Best regards.
Adhemar Brizard
