Save your energy, and do not worry about the Haitian government.
God is not sleeping, and I believe in him. I have heard horror stories for years about the President's palace over the years, and now it is no more. It should never be rebuilt in the same spot, and be replaced a memory garden like the world trade center.
Pastors, priests, and all religious leaders should perform a cleansing ritual there.
It is not a good place, and does not have a good reputation.
La nouvelle Port au Prince should be rebuilt somewhere else far away, and there should not be more than 50,000 people in the old city. The residents should have IDS from the government to control the population there, and they should not be allowed to do anything without it. You need to start planning with your friends, schools, co-workers, churches, and families on how to help. You can collect items from them, and donate to the places who will take it there.
You can sponsor, or adopt a child even if you are a single male or female.
You can look around your own home for items you don't really need, or use. Pots, pans, shoes, clothes, plates, cups, toys, sheets, towels, etc...
The items should be in great conditions, because you need to respect people.
I am haunted by this earthquake, and it could been me under a building.
I freak out when I have a headache, and have to take meds. I am terrified of pains, and I cannot even being to imagine the sufferings.
They are amputating humans in 2010 without anesthesia including children.
How about the slow death?
Haitians know hardships, but this is hard. I try to put myself in different scenarios, but I pray that God will spare us. Let's not forget our senior citizens, and handicapped.
You can start collecting diapers, wheelchairs, toiletries, PJS, and toiletries for them. I loved my grandmother, and she died 25 years ago. I just cannot imagine her laying on the ground while rats are eating from her dirty diapers, and this is exactly what is happening to the residents of a public nursing home in my country.
God help us.
