Re: United Nations Haiti occupies the western 1/3 of the Island of Hispaniola and is the 1st black nation to gain its independence.
They were the second to achieve this goal after following the trend set by the United States.
Haiti is unique and stands out in History as a nation of blacks who refused to live in inhuman slavery conditions thus overthrowing their white masters.
After twelve years of revolutionary war against a powerful French army who ruled the colony of Saint-Domingue, Haiti finally proclaimed its independence in Gonaives on January 1, 1804.
For the first time, on May 18, 1804 in Arcahaie, a small town located approximately 35 miles from Port-Au- Prince (the nations capital), a bi-colored Red and Blue flag was raised symbolizing independent ownership of the Island.
Ever since claiming its independence Haiti has always been, under the microscope of white Americans and Europeans.
These critics of Haiti utilize Christianity to cover their drive for power & control thus forcing rejection of culture and adoption of those belonging to the white civilization.
