Chamissoa Altissima, this is not lyann panye

Chamissoa altissima is the scientific name I find on internet for lyann panye, but when you look at the photos, it isn't lyann panye.

Also, Chamissoa altissima is in the Amaranthaceae family, which includes amaranth ("zepina") and quinoa, both of which have seeds.

In more than ten years living in Haiti, I never saw a lyann panye flower.

Also, lyann panye (Basket Vine) is a woody perennial vine, while the other well-known species in Amaranthaceae are annual herbaceous.

I think the plant was mis-identified and the information just got passed on and on.

The topic is: Haiti - Liann Panye (Liane Panier)
