Haiti SPNH - Government reviewing the firing of 5 police officers
5 Haitian police officers who were recently fired due to violent police protests in an attempt to put together a police union (SPNH) are being reviewed for reconsideration to rejoin the police force.
This news came Tuesday, March 10, 2020, following another violent street protest where windows of many state and government vehicles were smashed.
Many government ministries were also ransacked during that protest by a group of protesting policeman who call themselves Phantom 509, according to Haitian radio Caraibes FM.

Haitian Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, accompanied by other members of CSPN made the announcement Tuesday, March 10, 2020, following a special CSPN meeting.
Prime Minister Jouthe also announced that a decree will be released soon do override the the previous law which prevented the police from having a union.

On tuesday, February 18, 2020, officer Yanick Joseph, coordinator of a police union not authorized by the high command of the police institution, was dismissed Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), Normil Rameau.
Yanick Joseph is not the only one to be hit by this sanction. 4 other of his comrades are also expelled from the police institution.

A group of Haitian police officers protesting for their rights decided to step on the rights of Haitian carnival goers by burning down Carnival stands that was set up for Carnival in Port-au-Prince.
What started out as a peaceful protest in the area of Delmas and Petionville turned to violence when it reached Champs de Mars in downtown Port-au-Prince near the National Palace.
The police officers on Monday afternoon set fire to the carnival stand of la Mairie de Port-au-Prince. The fire spread to other stands nearby destroying many.
Michael Lucius, Former Haiti Judicial Police director murdered in cold blood
Vivi Mitchel Haiti -- Former Haiti Judicial Police (DCPJ) director Michael Lucius was murdered Sunday 01 December, 2019, near his home by unknown individuals on motorcycle.
According to news reports, Michael Lucius had just arrived in Haiti from a trip abroad. As he was entering the area of Belle Ville and Vivi Mitchel he was attacked by armed bandits and shot nine times.
An investigation is underway to try to identify the individuals responsible for this crime.
Haitian man pretending to a policeman arrested by the real cops
A Haitian man pretending to be a police officer was arrested by the real police Monday in Delmas 33.
The fake police officer had in his possession a fake police identification card and a flashlight made to look like a handgun under his shirt.
Alex Philogene, originally from the town of Côte-de-Fer, was arrested by the real cops and is now behind bars.
