What the hell is happening to the Haiti currency exchange rates these days?
There's a big problem happening in Haiti right now. People have no idea how much the going rate is for a US dollar. When you send money transfers in Haiti right now people receive it at about 135 gourdes for 1 US dollar. In the streets the US dollar is worth more and it fluctuates everyday.
Currency: The Haitian currency (gourdes) is being abused by the U.S. Dollar
It seems that everyone is setting their own rates when buying and selling the US dollar in Haiti as we speak.
Haiti Central Bank has a fixed rate and it is not being honored in other Banks.
When you send money transfers to Haiti in u.s. dollars, you are being told that the dollar is not available and they are giving you their own exchange rates to Haitian gourdes which is lower than what the central bank has set.
There's definitely something fishy going on.
