Haitian School teacher complains his paycheck is worth half its values from few years back

"These days, I can only afford half of what I used to purchase on my teacher's salary," he said.
"15,000 gourdes salary back when a back of Portland cement was sold for 300 gourdes is not the same now that I have to buy the same bag of cement for well over 600 gourdes on the same salary to build my house," the school teacher said.
"Everything is double what it was just a few years ago but our salary as a Haitian school teacher has not doubled," he said.
Haitian school teachers are not in the same boat as a trader (commercant) who raises the price of the goods he is selling to adjust for the market. The teacher is on a fixed salary and, unfortunatly for him or her, salaries in Haiti do not adjust when the U.S. dollar goes up in value.
