There's a big problem happening in Haiti right now. People have no idea how much the going rate is for a US dollar. When you send money transfers in Haiti right now people receive it at about 135 gourdes for 1 US dollar. In the streets the US dollar is worth more and it fluctuates everyday.
It seems that everyone is setting their own rates when buying and selling the US dollar in Haiti as we speak.

The Haitian currency rose as high 160 gourdes for one US dollar in early 2023.

Haiti Money: The government is slowly going back on decision prohibiting circulation of other currencies in the country
Back in March 2018 the Haitian government made the decision that all commercial transactions across the country were to be made exclusively in gourdes, the Haitian currency, buying or selling. But today, the government is curbing that decision a little bit.
Government officials believe this decision has only increased the pressure on the US dollar and reduced the value of the Haitian gourde even more.
"We realized that the decree, instead of providing solutions, leads to expectations that have an impact on the cost of living," said Guichard Doré, special adviser to Haitian President Jovenel Moise.
