According to Agence France Presse, this woman was in some kind of adoption process for the child and she decided to smuggle the child into France.

Airport authorities refused to allow her to travel with the Haitian girl, so she decided to hide her in a bag and book a different flight.

The women got caught when the child asked to go to the bathroom and other passengers noticed there was a child in the bag.
