TPS for Haitians: Vatican criticizes President Trump's decision to end TPS for Haitians, 'a sad decision' official says

TPS for Haitians Update -- ROME - One of the Vatican's top diplomatic voices has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's recent decision to end the Temporary Protected Status(TPS) of thousands of Haitians taking refuge in the U.S., saying the country isn't yet ready for the influx after a slew of natural disasters devastated the island nation.

"That's a sad decision, because the Haitian population in the U.S. that arrived after the earthquake and after the storm that destroyed half of the island, cannot go back to a situation that still is very difficult," Archbishop Silvano Tomasi told Catholic News Agency on Nov. 24.

L'une des principales voix diplomatiques du Vatican a critiqué la récente décision du président américain Donald Trump de mettre fin au statut de protection temporaire (TPS) de milliers d'Haïtiens réfugiés aux Etats-Unis, déclarant que le pays n'est pas encore prêt pour l'afflux après une série de catastrophes naturelles ont dévasté la nation de l'île.

"C'est une triste décision, car la population haïtienne aux Etats-Unis après le tremblement de terre et après la tempête qui a détruit la moitié de l'île, ne peut pas revenir à une situation encore difficile", a déclaré l'archevêque Silvano
