Haitian dishwashers win $2.5 million lawsuit against South Beach hotel for discrimination

Imagine that, being called a slave at work by your boss in the 21st century in America, forbidden to speak Creole while Hispanic workers are speaking Spanish right in front of you. Doing the all the dirty jobs that others others are exempt from.

This is exactly what happened to 17 Haitian dishwashers working in restaurants in the SLS South Beach, in the 1700 block of Collins Avenue.

When they complained to human resources, all 17 Haitian dishwashers were fired.

They filed a lawsuit and they won!

The South Beach hotel has agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle a discrimination lawsuit filed on behalf of the 17 fired Haitian dishwashers, the federal authorities said Monday.

What do you think about that?
