Haiti - UNESCO says Columbus Santa Maria Shipwreck needs further Investigation

A shipwreck off the coast of Haiti believed to be he lost remains of the Santa Maria, the flagship of Christopher Columbus, requires further investigation according to a team of experts from The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Xavier Nieto Prieto, the former head of the Spanish National Museum on Underwater Archaeology, led the UNESCO team in examining the wreck off Haiti's northern coast and collected samples as part of the investigation.
