Haiti Corruption - Close to 350 million gourdes of "checks zombies" already recovered by Haitian Government

The Haitian government announced they have recovered close to 400 million gourdes in "checks zombies" in a fight against corruption deep inside the public administration in the country.

Nearly 347 million gourdes of "checks zombies" -- checks written to people either do not exist or do not actively work for the government -- have been recovered in these 3 institutions: the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Haitian National Police.

These checks are also money being given to government employees who leave the country o live abroad for many years and they continue to receive their salary regularly.

These recovered money will be returned to the Treasury.
