The U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti has officially ended today, October 15, 2017. A new mission has started, It's civilian mission called MINUJUSTH, The United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti.
MINUJUSTH will have up to 1,275 police officers as well as correction officers and international civilians, but no military personnel.
So, Are Haitians free at last?
I don't know because, you see, Haitian politicians have a strange habit of screwing up the country so that other nations can come to our rescue. Not necessarily the Haitians in power, for those who want power by any means necessary i Haiti, it's the law of the jungle.
So let's wait and see what happens.
