Haiti Crime - American medical student shot in the chest during an armed robbery in Haiti

Bhumi Patel, an American medical student, was shot in the hand and chest in an armed robbery in Port-au-Prince, Haiti last Thursday

Patel was in Haiti as part of a Tulane University School of Medicine program to promote maternal and child health.

Luckily, the American student survived, she was flown to a hospital in Miami.

Bhumi Patel writes on her facebook page: "Thank you everybody for your kind messages and support... I am extremely grateful to be alive..."
