Transport in Haiti

Here is one of the main causes of deforestation in Haiti: Look at this picture of a horse loaded with charcoal from the countryside going to market.

By the end of the day, these 3 bags of charcoal will make it to a Haitian kitchen. by the end of the week it's gone... Burned to ashes.

Charcoal is Haiti's chief source of fuel and the #1 cause for deforestation and environmental disasters.

As long as Haitians continue to use charcoal for cooking deforestation will continue.

Metrocable Aerial Tramway transport system proposed for Port-au-Prince Haiti...

This is already being used successfully in Medellin, Colombia, a city surrounded by hills just like Port-au-Prince and it is working like a charm.
