PHOTO: Haiti - U.S. Coast Guard confiscates 900 pounds of marijuana from a go-fast boat near Haiti headed for Miami
The operation began Tuesday night, when a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft crew spotted a vessel off the coast of Haiti, near Cap du Mole. The crew suspected an illegal operation, and the Coast Guard was sent to investigate, the Guard said in a statement.
While officials don't know the exact origin of the marijuana, they know the boat came from the Haitian coast, Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Ryan Doss said.
